The Africa Academy for Public Health (AAPH) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization registered in Tanzania with the mission to address public health priority challenges in sub-Saharan Africa through innovative scientific evidence, training and capacity building and knowledge translation. AAPH with its rich team of staff is competent in research expertise including research design and implementation, program design and planning, development and management of data systems, data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, epidemiology, training and policy dialogue. With these AAPH has successfully consulted on and conducted a wide range of health-related research within healthcare facilities and the community. Communications Officer Intern: One Position.

Report to: Senior Manager Strategic Partnerships and Programs

Location: Dar es Salaam

Job summary:

Reporting to the Senior Manager Strategic Partnerships and Programs, the Communications Officer Intern will support internal and external communication. This role will also support public health research, trainings and capacity building, reports and other dissemination communication materials design, content creation and distribution.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support capturing, editing, designing, and distribution of relevant seasonal media content in line with AAPH thematic areas.
  • Support timely and accurate graphics designing for reporting of research and project activities per requirements and as necessary for the organization, the government of Tanzania and the Donor/s.
  • Monitor and engage audiences on social media with respect to distributed content and provide regular feedback and updates.
  • Perform any other task(s) as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Holds a Diploma/ Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related fields.
  • Proficient in the use of Adobe Media Packages.
  • Experienced in field photography, graphics designing, production directing, still picture and video editing as well as post production finishing.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills – in person and online – including fluency in both Swahili and English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Self-directed, goal-oriented, organized with an ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Experience in working with NGOs with active research/project/trainings focus is an added advantage.
